‘One Rigpa’ Network - connecting Rigpa around the world

Rigpa

A new governance structure called ‘One Rigpa’, formalises the way in which Rigpa entities work together to achieve Rigpa’s vision. This formal mechanism extends and strengthens the collaboration between Rigpa entities that has been nurtured in recent years.

Looking back over the last five years, we have seen the Rigpa organisation evolve and develop. We have seen the formation of the Vision Board, which oversees the spiritual direction; leadership groups who coordinate Rigpa’s priorities year-by-year; and groups, such as our teachers and practice holders, and experts in communication, programme, finance and community engagement, who contribute their crucial experience.*

At the heart of the evolution of Rigpa in recent years has been a collaborative approach, where sangha members from the different Rigpa countries offer their time to serve on the different management teams and groups (mostly as volunteers). Together, strengthened by this diversity, these groups steer Rigpa’s activities and make decisions for the wider Rigpa organisation.

Formalising the link between Rigpa entities

Until now, there hasn’t been a formal agreement that unifies the different Rigpa groups and centres from different countries or describes how they collaborate.

Now we have established a new governance structure called ‘One Rigpa’, the way in which Rigpa entities work together to achieve Rigpa’s vision will be formalised. This formal mechanism will extend and strengthen the collaboration that has been nurtured in recent years.

One Rigpa - in more detail

Presenting ‘One Rigpa’

The One Rigpa Network formally connects the different Rigpa entities (retreat centres, countries and groups), and clarifies the way they work together and share decision-making.

All Rigpa countries** have now signed the One Rigpa Network agreement.

How did ‘One Rigpa’ come into being?

The development of this new framework was not decided by a small group, instead it emerged from detailed discussions and teamwork over several years by representatives of all the Rigpa countries and retreat centres. As a result, we could ensure this new way of working honours the vast dharma vision we have the privilege to uphold, while also meeting the needs of Rigpa in different countries and the sangha worldwide.

While the new set up won’t change how decisions are made and which groups make decisions, it does provide a more stable and transparent agreement between Rigpa organisations in different countries.

We welcome this development and we are confident that it will support all the dharma activity taking place in all the Rigpa Centres and groups around the world.

**Rigpa’s main groups exist in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, USA and UK. Many students in other countries are supported by these larger Rigpa organisations.
