Have you discovered Prajna?

The Prajna Team (Hans-Fredrik, Helen, Christian and the team)

In between your local and national courses and programmes, Prajna is there for you and for your Path.

Prajna, prajnaonline.org, Rigpa’s new online service was launched in late 2020. The goal of Prajna is to add a new dimension of support for your path – as an enhancement to the dharma courses and gatherings that you participate in at a local and national level (either online or in person). Prajna offers a menu of live events, recent teachings and treasured teachings from deep within the Rigpa archive–all according to your stage on the path.

Read on to find out more about what it’s about and how you can get the most out of this new resource.

Online, yet together

The recent sangha survey highlighted just how precious online teaching resources are for us all, especially with all the restrictions caused by the pandemic. Gathering as sangha and being together (even online) is so important for us all. We can use Prajna to connect with sangha friends in all kinds of ways—gathering online for practice (in the smaller practices can see each other on Zoom), being part of a community experience when we collectively study the same recent teaching at the same time, or we can get together with friends to study a topic we share an interest in.

There are four categories of content in Prajna:

  • Teachings Library

  • Teaching Events

  • Live practices and short teachings

  • Courses (coming later in 2021)

Teachings of our lineage

Prajna gives you access to a treasure trove of wisdom with its vast collection of teachings from masters who lived and taught in Tibet, through to today’s young Western and Tibetan teachers.

The teachings are also arranged according to the same themes as Rigpa’s Path of study and practice (‘the curriculum’)—Foundations of the Path, Mahayana, Vajrayana Preliminaries, Vajrayana and Dzogchen—so you can find the right teachings for you.

What people are saying about Prajna

Prajna currently has over 3000 members, and so far we have more than 160 hours of videos. Here is what some of the members have said about Prajna:

“I LOVE this new resource. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

“A heartfelt thank you for the amazing release of Prajna at this challenging time for all and how timely for us to stay inspired and connected.”

"I am really touched and very inspired. It couldn’t be easier to connect with the Dharma on a daily basis.”

Join to get access

You can access the content in Prajna in several ways, each of which gives access to different content:

  • Basic free access: available to anyone and gives access to a range of public content.

  • Sangha basic access (free): gives access to limited content based on your mandala.

  • Full membership (additional fee or part of your Rigpa subscription) - gives access to the whole Prajna library, based on your mandala. The library is updated on a monthly basis.

  • Teaching Events (additional fee per event) - some special events are not included in a membership subscription and are paid for separately. Most of these events are open to everyone (not only Rigpa sangha members).

Many live online events that you have been following in the past, such as daily practices and dharma talks, will remain free.

Prajna is a not-for-profit platform so membership fees are used to produce and upload new teachings to the library every month as well as to run and develop the platform.

Prajna is also open to the public so anyone who has an interest in the dharma can watch teachings for free or sign up to get access to a fuller collection of teachings or open events.

To understand more about the membership options for Rigpa sangha members read the additional FAQs for Rigpa sangha members. (login with your Admin and Care login).

Help make Prajna the best it can be

Along with each member of the Prajna community, you have the opportunity to contribute to helping guide Prajna’s evolution by contributing feedback about what works well and what does not, and what sort of material you would like to see added to Prajna. You can reach us via contact@prajnaonline.org.

An opportunity to phase out our outdated teaching platforms

For the Rigpa sangha, the advent of Prajna has given us the welcome opportunity to replace and phase out some of our older online platforms including the Rigpa streaming site and Treasury of Wisdom (Dharmakosha). These will be gradually phased out in 2021/2022.
