Securing Rigpa’s Lineage & Legacy

Anneke, Jessica, Malcolm and Pedro 'Securing the Lineage and Legacy' grants team

New financial support to study and practice of the Dharma.

As Dharma students we have a shared commitment to ensure the future of the priceless lineage with which we have been entrusted. It’s a big responsibility; to preserve and pass on these teachings and practices to coming generations, in a way that is as pure, alive and vibrant as when we received them from our teachers. They, in turn, received them directly from their teachers according to this tradition of transmission that leads back to the Shakyamuni Buddha.

A Vision for the Future

Thankfully 30 years ago a group of Rigpa students had the vision and practical foresight to make a plan to resource this sacred task. The Tertön Sogyal Foundations were established to create a stable financial foundation to support the future of the Dharma and particularly for the preservation and transmission of the spiritual treasures held by the Rigpa sangha. The Foundations accomplish this through prudent investment of larger gifts (such as those received through wills and bequests), to assure a stream of dividends, to support Dharma study and practice.

For the Benefit of All

In recent years the Tertön Sogyal Foundations have supported major projects including the Treasury of Wisdom (archive of teachings), the Sukhavati Spiritual Care Centre in Berlin, and the development of Prajna Online - Rigpa’s library and streaming site. This year, the Foundations are sponsoring a torchbearer (project manager) to bring the first new courses of the Rigpa Curriculum to fruition.

The Foundations have now formed a partnership with Rigpa – Securing Rigpa’s Lineage and Legacy – to make grants available to support individual students with their study and practice while funding further initiatives to make teachings available in new and inventive ways.

IF YOU WISH TO APPLY FOR A GRANT: here you can find more information on the grants and how to apply.

The Lineage and Legacy team are currently processing grant applications from students who wish to study in the Milinda Teacher Training Programme and the Rigpa Shedra, practitioners who want to finish their Ngöndro in retreat at Dzogchen Beara, instructors who are specialised in shrine and ritual (to receive one year training in Lerab Ling to enable the to train others), students who wish to attend this Summer’s retreats at Lerab Ling and many more.

The Virtuous Cycle of Giving and Receiving

It is fortunate that the Foundations are able to start disbursing grants at a time of global turbulence, when the wisdom and compassion of Dharma seem to be more needed than ever. This is all made possible by the generosity of prior donors and will only continue to be possible if those of us who are able support the Foundations financially continue to do so, so we can keep this virtuous cycle of giving and receiving going long into the future.
